About

Everything in our lives can be personalized — our phone ringers and cases, Facebook status, clothes, and our playlists. Everything except how we learn. Today that changes. JaneAneMarie High School allows students to choose when they go to school and which courses they work on each day. The schedule is designed to fit your life. Courses are self-paced to allow students to accelerate their learning. It’s a real diploma for 21st century students — and it’s free.

JaneAneMarie is a student-centered organization delivering excellence in education. Our Team is committed to our students, our communities, and each other. We believe that our cohesion and morale help us to achieve excellence in our schools. Our commitment to our students and our dedication to impacting their education through innovative methods make us unique.

At NewStart, we believe the following:

  • Every student deserves an environment that enables them to achieve to their potential
  • We respect our work and each other
  • We use data to inform our decisions and measure our success

JaneAneMarie is a non-traditional, non-graded high school, serving students who would traditionally be enrolled in grades 9-12. These students may have fallen behind in earning credits, have difficulty passing state required tests, are at risk of dropping out of school, or just need a new environment in which they can succeed.

JaneAneMarie students do not enroll in a specific grade level but rather in the “JaneAneMarie school.” We target the population of students whose educational needs have not been met at any meaningful level. JaneAneMarie is an alternative for the non-traditional student. The JaneAneMarie model catches the students that are falling through the cracks and empowers the community with more contributing adult citizens.

Our instructional method is self-paced, teacher directed and technology-centered. It is a 21st Century approach to learning that customizes instruction based on each individual student’s needs. Formative assessment is included in each course to track instructional practices.

Our Curriculum is focused on the core subjects of reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. The teachers are trained to (and the computer programs are designed to) ensure that each student demonstrates mastery of the current lesson before they move on to the next lesson. This ensures that NO STUDENT IS LEFT BEHIND. All JaneAneMarie curricula are aligned to the State Standards and also meet Local requirements.

Teachers and administrators are always well informed of every student’s strengths, weaknesses, and progress towards graduation. Each student, parent, and guardian have access to real-time information concerning graduation status.

JaneAneMarie also teaches the skills that each student will need to make the transition from high school to college, technical training, or the workforce. We want each graduate to be a responsible member of their communities.

Message for Parents

At JaneAneMarie, the individual child comes first and we are focused on helping them achieve to their potential. Educating our children is important to us because we realize that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. Their success is our future.

We recognize that each student learns differently and our model allows for individual differences as each student moves towards graduation. JaneAneMarie schools offer the first, and sometimes only, opportunity for many families to choose the right school for their children. They have the chance to choose an alternative to their local high school, which may be overcrowded, under funded, or perhaps even dangerous. If a local school cannot meet a child’s needs, JaneAneMarie may be exactly the appropriate school. In fact, many students thrive with the special attention and alternative methods employed by the schools.

Educational excellence motivates everyone at JaneAneMarie. Even though we make the success of each individual child our primary goal, we’re still governed and held accountable by the same controls that manage all district schools in Florida.
